2.2 Search Query Data
We collect and store search queries made by your store's customers to power analytics and improve search relevance. This data is anonymized and not linked to individual shoppers.
2.3 Usage and Technical Data
We automatically collect certain technical information, including API request logs, error reports, and performance metrics. This data helps us maintain and improve the Service.

- Index your product catalog and power search functionality
- Generate AI embeddings for semantic search
- Provide search analytics and insights dashboards

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information or your customers' data to third parties. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:
- AI Providers: Product data is sent to AI embedding providers (such as OpenAI or Google) solely to generate vector embeddings for search. These providers process data under strict data processing agreements.
- Infrastructure: We use cloud infrastructure providers to store and process data. All providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
5. Data Retention
We retain product catalog data for as long as your SearchByte account is active. Search query analytics data is retained for up to 24 months. Upon account deletion or app uninstallation, we will delete your store's data within 30 days.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access and receive a copy of your data
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing

8. Platform Compliance
SearchByte is designed for use with any eCommerce platform, including Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and custom storefronts. Where platform-specific integrations exist, we comply with the relevant partner and API terms of each platform. We request only the minimum data access necessary to provide the Service.
9. Cookies
Our marketing website uses essential cookies for functionality and analytics cookies to understand how visitors interact with our site. The SearchByte API itself does not set cookies in your customers' browsers.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the SearchByte dashboard. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
